about

This is Version.2 of the newest Bandcamp entry of Phicus, entitled "Phicus: The Amateur's Guide to Avantgarde by Maciej Lewenstein". It is not a typical digital EP. It includes three tracks recorded at Spontaneous Music Festival in Poznań, but its liner notes consist of a book of Maciej Lewenstein with the same title. The book includes 1450 pages, and describes representative or nearly-complete discography of 51 Giants of contemporary avantgarde (including Agustí Fernández, Barry Guy, Joëlle Léandre, Joe McPhee, Ivo Perelman, Tomasz Stańko, Steve Swell, Mikołaj Trzaska, Ken Vandermark, Mars Williams and many others) and selected discography of avantgarde music in Catalunya, Poland, Portugal and more. It contains short reviews of several thousands of CDs, LPs, DVDs and digital albums.

One can view it all also à rebours. The actual Bandcamp entry is the book of Maciej Lewenstein, entitled "Phicus: The Amateur's Guide to Avantgarde by Maciej Lewenstein", while the digital EP of Phicus with the same title comes together with the book as a wonderful musical bonus.
